Boise mom creates iPhone app

Last week, I got an e-mail from a Boise mom named Elizabeth Rodgers. She created a cool iPhone app with a friend of hers for kids! I thought I would share it with all of you iPhone junkies. You know who you are…

It’s called Audiobooks For Your Kids – and it’s a great way to pass the time on long car trips, plane rides, anywhere your kids need entertainment. The best part is, it’s educational too.

Here’s a quick bit from her e-mail:

“I had the inspiration to create this app last year, driving to Ketchum when I didn’t want my kids to be DVD dependent on the long car trip. There are similar iPhone apps that do essentially the same thing, but are not user-friendly nor easy on the eyes. Nor are they geared exclusively for kids.

The content is classic books (Andersen’s Fairy Tales, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz), we’ve pulled the best narrated titles, and put it in a parent-friendly user interface.

I’ve been bound and determined to raise my children as readers. This is an app I wish someone else would have made for me. It makes your kids smarter – because they are listening to classic literature.”

Today (MARCH 29th), if you download this app for $2.99, Elizabeth tells me all the proceeds will go to the American Red Cross for disaster relief in Japan. Plus, you’ll be supporting a local app creator. Two good reasons to download!

**Normally, the app is just 99 cents. **
Here’s the link to it.
