iPhone-iPad-iPod Touch Ver. 1.3 – Pause Bug Fixed

by | Friday, October 21st, 2011

Audiobooks For Your Kids went live with the most updated version of its educational children’s iPhone app, Audiobooks For Your Kids. A persistent “pause” bug has been fixed.

Continuing with the same easy-to-use interface, Audiobooks for Your Kids iPhone app gives you classic children’s literature like The Jungle Book, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz and Little Women.  For only 99 cents, parents can have their children listen to over 30 audiobooks on the iPhone, iPod and iPad.

Audiobooks For Your Kids was founded to provide a solution to the following three points of pain:

– buying audiobooks is expensive,

– organizing CDs from the library is a hassle,

– sifting through thousands of books in other apps is overwhelming.

Audiobooks For Your Kids curates its content so that there is minimal decision making and ease of use — for only 99 cents.  Too much choice is not a good thing.

Boise mom and filmmaker, Elizabeth Rodgers, first had the vision for an audiobook app when she took a road trip with her family, including two young children.  “There’s nothing wrong with watching DVDs on the road, but I’m determined to raise them as readers.” The non-technical Rodgers partnered with Boisean graphic designer and educator, Mazal Simantov, and together they figured out how the app would work. Simantov created the elegantly simple design.  The keys to success were threefold:
– ease of use,

– great content,

– not to overwhelm the user with choices.

A programmer was hired to develop the app and in February 2011 Audiobooks For Your Kids was launched.
Since the original app was established, Rodgers and Simantov have received feedback from users that an app with different themed books would be well received. To meet that demand, they chose three new themes: Science Fiction, Fantasy and Fairy Tales/Folk Tales.  The launch begins in the 4th Quarter of 2011.
